In ‘YOU’ She Believed!
Poem

In ‘YOU’ She Believed!

Stepped out of the house at nightfall,

With all her dignity where there is no harm that could befall;

Alone on the street she walks with pride, with a delicate smile on her face.

Some hooligans out of nowhere surrounded her to bully and tease her, which almost made her cry;

Their touch made her so uncomfortable,

She stood frozen and paralyzed in shock, unable to fight back.

Her dignity was lowered, when she remembered the words of her mother,

“Self-respect comes from within, anything you see ever going wrong, stand up against it, that’s where ‘YOU’ begin”.

She thought about what her father once told, “Do not fear the dark, that’s when ‘YOU’ light your own spark”.

As these thoughts crossed her mind,

She left all her fears behind,

Fought back for her own integrity;

She screamed and yelled out all the anger, which made those bullies run away in fear;

For she is not scared to fight back and they cannot ever hurt her.

A moment of calm to get her strength back together,

She regained her pride and walked down the lane, a slight smile on her face, because;

In herself ‘She Believed’.
