BENGALURU – The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) has announced a walk-in interview to fill two vacancies for the post of Field Data Collector. These positions are part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)-funded project titled “National Mental Health Survey Phase 2 (NMHS-2), Karnataka site.” The project is being conducted under the leadership of Dr. Pracheth R., Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Principal Investigator, Department of Epidemiology, NIMHANS.

Eligibility Criteria and Required Experience

Candidates applying for this position must have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Psychiatric Social Work, Public Health, or Social Work. Additionally, candidates with prior experience in mental health-related work, project implementation at the state level, and field-based data collection will be given preference. The ability to read, write, and speak Kannada fluently is also a key requirement for the role.

Nature of Work and Responsibilities

Selected candidates will be responsible for conducting field-based data collection, coordinating with local authorities, and ensuring the smooth execution of survey activities. The work will involve extensive travel to different survey sites across Karnataka. Other responsibilities include:

  • Planning field data collection activities and coordinating with local authorities.
  • Administering psychiatric survey instruments.
  • Undertaking data collection as per the project plan.
  • Ensuring daily data backup and maintaining records.
  • Preparing daily and weekly reports in the specified format.
Salary, Age Limit, and Contract Duration

Candidates selected for the position will receive a consolidated monthly salary of ₹45,000, excluding local travel expenses, which will be covered separately. The maximum age limit for applicants is 40 years. Initially, the appointment will be for six months, with a possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements.

Selection Process and Interview Details

The selection process will be conducted through a written test followed by a walk-in interview. The interview is scheduled for March 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Board Room, NBRC 1st Floor, Opposite Library & Information Centre, NIMHANS, Bengaluru – 29. Candidates are required to register their names at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the written test.

Important Instructions for Candidates
  • Interested candidates must bring their bio-data, original testimonials, and a set of photocopies for verification.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending the selection process.
  • Candidates currently working on intramural or extramural projects at NIMHANS must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Principal Investigator before appearing for the interview.
