Course applications for the three-month certificate course on ‘Crisis Intervention and Social Work Practice in Trauma Care’ under the Department of Psychiatric Social Work, for PG students in social work are now open. The course is directed towards addressing training requirements within the field of Emergency and Trauma care, NIMHANS. This Course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, assess, and provide psychosocial first aid during crisis situation and traumatic events.
The course is focused on case-based learning, with interactive sessions and supervision from departments of trauma and management. The 3-month course will take place on campus at NIMHANS, between 1st October to 31st December 2023.
Eligibility Details:
The certificate course is open for those who have completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work, from a recognized university, and scored at least 55% marks in their course overall.
Course Content encompasses the areas of understanding Social Work Theories, different Models in Emergency and Trauma Care, Brain and Spine, the impact of trauma on overall well-being, PTSD & grief, counseling skills, Crisis assessment, and interventions.
To successfully complete the course, candidates are required to deliver case series presentations based on their clinical exposure, create IEC materials (like pamphlets, booklets, and audio-visual aids), engage in group activities focused on trauma care, and actively participate in case management.

The charges for course fee costs Rs. 9000/- (non-refundable, for three months). The number of seats are 6 maximum in every batch. Accommodation will not be provided, hence candidates are to make their own arrangements. Based on availability, hostel accommodation
The last date for receiving all the applications is 20 September 2023, so interested and eligible candidates should apply as soon as possible. The interview will be conducted online on 22 September 2023.
