One of the largest residential universities in Southern Asia, Annamalai University has a campus that spans about 1000 acres and is located in Chidambaram, the Adobe of the Cosmic Dancer Lord Nataraja. It incorporates 49 academic departments and 10 faculties. Rajah Sir S. R. M. Annamalai Chettiar established colleges in a rural setting near Chidambaram in the early 1920s to aid the underprivileged and promote Tamil literature. With the local government, Rajah Sir S. R. M. Annamalai Chettiar turned the institution to establish a university in 1928. Thus, in accordance with the

Annamalai University Act 1928 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1929), Annamalai University was founded on January 1, 1929. It is offering various Full-Time/Part-Time PhD programmes for the Academic Year 2023-24 at the university itself and its affiliated colleges. The University’s Faculty of Science is offering PhD in Sports Psychology, whereas candidates who want to enrol in the PhD programmes at the colleges affiliated with Annamalai University are advised to visit each college’s website for information on the programmes they offer.
