Let’s Talk about SEX! Mental health benefits of sex

When it comes to protect our mental health, we focus on exercise, meditation, self-care, being mindful, eating healthy food, engaging in activities which gives pleasure and many more things which helps us to improve our mental health. Today we will be talking one of those activities which does give immense pleasure and that is SEX. Sex might not be a cure to everything (although I wish it was), but it can have a huge positive effect on our physical and mental health! In reality, with research to prove it, sex actually has several positive effects on overall health!
Sex and sexuality are part and parcel of life. Sex may be about affection and enjoyment, aside from reproduction but can offer many surprising benefits to different aspects of our  life. Let’s see some benefits of sex.SEX REDUCES STRESS

Also, the level of cortisol, the main stress hormone, decreases with sex, while the levels of these above chemicals increase with sex. Hence more the sex, less the stress!
In fact, one study found that having sex for two weeks every day led to cell growth in the hippocampus (which plays a role in controlling levels of stress). Another research showed that having sex for a span of two weeks at least once a day reduced blood pressure due to stress.

It is important for both mental health and physical health to get enough sleep. Just think about how grouchy we are when we’re deprived of sleep, and when we’re well rested, how much better we feel! So, if you normally have trouble sleeping, try Sex before you go to bed. During an orgasm, the body releases oxytocin, also called the’ love’ or’ intimacy’ hormone, and endorphins. Combination of these hormones might function as sedation. Better sleep will lead to: A more powerful immune system, A greater lifespan, more well-rested feeling and Getting more energy throughout the day. These released hormones make us feel more comfortable and ready to sleep. Also, during an orgasm, the prolactin hormone is released, which makes us even sleepier.
A healthy sex life will help us sleep better, which in turn can further enhance our sex life. An interdependent relationship is genuinely shared by sex and sleep.

Infact in today’s time, Counsellors and psychologists have been encouraging their clients to limit their media consumption and suggest engaging in mindful sex acts alone or with partners. Mindful sex is the type of sex where you are focused on enjoying pleasure and less concerned with results or achieving an end goal (having an orgasm, for example). At its heart, mindful sex includes unwinding and being with your partner at the moment. Blood flows in, bringing to the brain cells a flood of nutrients and oxygen.
