For the past years, TISS has been conducting its very own entrance exam called the TISSNET (Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test). This examination tested the general aptitude of the students, with a paper pattern consisting of quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness and English proficiency. TISSNET consisted of 100 questions with no negative markings and was generally conducted at the start of every year. This was the norm for getting admission to TISS. A key factor for getting admission is one of the top institutions in India.

A recent circular was posted by TISS on 14th November, 2023 which declared the scraping off of TISSNET. The institution will now take into consideration scores from the CUET-PG exam. CUET is the central university entrance exam. The decision is in line with the UGC guidelines. This is a single common entrance window to take admission to all major universities.

The CUET-PG entrance exam tests an individual’s language proficiency, quantitative aptitude, analytical reasoning, logical reasoning and general awareness. Besides these, the question paper also consists of domain-specific questions. So aspiring psychology student will also be asked questions from their specific domain of psychology.
