Munawwar Rana, was born in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, on November 26, 1952, was well-known for his contributions to Urdu poetry and literature, especially his ghazals. His poetry was known for being friendly and engaging to Indian audiences since he avoided using Persian and Arabic and chose Hindi and Awadhi words. His most well-known poem, “Maa,” honored motherhood’s blessings in the classic ghazal format. Throughout his career, Rana received various awards, including the coveted Sahitya Akademi Award in 2014 on the poetry collection ‘Shahdaba’. He also got the Saraswati Samaj Award, the Ghalib Award, the Ameer Khusro Award, the Mir Taqi Mir Award, and the Dr. Zakir Hussain Award.
