A newly formed company(startup) located in Nagpur has developed an innovative method of assisting students who suffer from extreme amounts of anxiety and stress when going to school. Their findings indicate that there should be access to mental health services for all students, and they will be offering regular, ongoing support to those students as their anxiety and/or stress levels associated with school, work, and emotional pain increase.

Mental health resources in schools are scarce, which leaves many children without guidance or support when going through difficult times. This startup is addressing this issue by providing schools with structured mental health programs. Rather than offering mental health supports as a single event, there is a desire to embed them within the routines of each school.

Support Through Workshops

The initiative hosts regular workshops that provide support across a variety of subject areas, including time management, relaxation techniques, breath control, and motivational strategies. The students learn from these sessions because they receive more perspective on their emotional states as well as simple strategies for managing the day-to-day challenges that they face. Anonymous “worry boxes” are another means through which a safe environment has been created to allow students to express their worries.

Involving Teachers and School Environment

The Faculty As Well As Staff Have All Been Educated To Better Understand Student Behaviour & Respond In A Responsive Manner. The School Environment Is When The Whole School Community Is Included And Creates a Supportive Environment & Cognizant Of A Student’s Needs.

Individual Attention When Needed

Although many students can gain from group practices, students who are dealing with higher-level issues are given individual counselling. This allows for full recovery and therapy of students who have emotional, behavioural or learning problems. The startup follows a subscription-based model, making services affordable for schools. This allows more students to access support without adding a financial burden.

Moving Towards a Supportive Education System

Currently, the initiative is collaborating with several schools and is expanding the number of partner schools. The initiative’s focus on mental health corresponds with a larger change in the education system, where mental health has become an essential element for student success. The initiative is promoting emotional well-being through a different lens (awareness, preventative support, and accessibility) in order to create emotional well-being as “normal” for students rather than something that only happens in times of crisis.
