Policy for the Editorial Board of Psychologs Magazine
Purpose and Scope
This Policy defines the duties, obligations, rights, and ethical standards expected from members of the Editorial Board of Psychologs Magazine.
All members, upon acceptance of the role, agree to abide by these terms and uphold the mission of promoting authentic psychological knowledge and mental wellbeing.
Responsibilities of Editorial Board Members
- Each editorial board member is required to edit and proofread at least one issue per year, at both the pre-design and post-design stages.
- The Editorial Board will assign which issue you are to edit. However, members may request to edit a specific edition, subject to the Board’s approval.
- Members may contribute their own articles or recommend articles written by others. Such submissions must be educational and mental-health oriented, not promotional or commercially driven.
- Every contributed or approved article should aim to guide, inform, and support mental wellbeing among readers and society.
- If multiple editors express interest in editing the same issue, it may be assigned to more than one editor, who will share the responsibility.
- Editors must ensure that the complete edited version of the assigned issue is submitted within the defined timeline. Failure to meet deadlines will be considered the editor’s sole responsibility.
- Failure to edit or proofread at least one issue per year will lead to automatic termination of the membership.
Required Documentation
All Editorial Board members must provide the following before assuming responsibilities:
- Valid educational qualification documents relevant to psychology or related disciplines.
- Residential proof (for verification and correspondence).
- A self-declaration affirming that:
- You will contribute to the promotion of mental health and wellbeing of individuals and society.
- You will not use the platform for propaganda, misinformation, or personal or political gain.
- You will accept full accountability for any content (articles, edits, or issues) you approve or publish through Psychologs Magazine.
Compensation and Recognition
- The position on the Editorial Board is honorary and carries no monetary benefits or favour.
- If an editor secures sponsorship for the issue they edit:
- 20% of the sponsorship amount will be provided as an honorarium to the editor(s).
- The remaining 80% will be utilized to promote mental health initiatives, including free distribution of the magazine to NGOs, schools, colleges, and other social institutions.
- The editor’s name will be prominently featured on the Editorial Page as the “Issue Editor” for the respective edition, and a Certificate will be issued.
Ethical and Legal Accountability
- Editors bear individual accountability for the integrity of the content they approve or edit.
- Any misuse of the editorial position, including the publication or approval of misleading, plagiarized, defamatory, or unverified information, will result in immediate removal from the board and may lead to legal action as per Indian laws.
- The magazine reserves the right to review, modify, or reject any editorial decision that violates its ethical or professional standards.
Policy Amendments
This policy is subject to modification or update at any time without prior notice, at the discretion of the Psychologs Management Committee.
Members are encouraged to stay informed of any policy updates published on the official website.
