Admissions Open At NIEPMD, Chennai For The M.Phil. Clinical Psychology

Once more opening its doors, the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) has announced the start of admissions for the academic year 2023–2024. Candidates should attach the appropriate certificate issued by the District Administration in the format required by the Central Government while applying under their respective categories, such as OBC, SC, ST, or EWS. When someone fails to submit a required certificate, they do not take the specified category into consideration; instead, they use the General Category.

Eligibility

Admission to the M. Phil. in Clinical Psychology requires a minimum GPA of 10+2+3+2 in the standard full-time mode. The candidates should have earned their undergraduate psychology degree (B.A. or B.Sc.) as well as their graduate degree (M.A. or M.Sc.).

(Psychology, Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology) in full-time regular mode from an institution accredited by the UGC with at least 55% overall. The GOI mandates a minimum overall percentage of 50% for the PwD and SC/ST categories. (Note: Candidates without an undergraduate degree in psychology and those who obtained their B.A., B.Sc., and M.A., or M.Sc., degrees through correspondence courses, part-time study, or distance learning will not be eligible)

Candidates who are enrolled in their PG Degree’s final semester (on the usual method only) are eligible to take the admission exam. At the time of the interview, if the candidate is selected for further consideration. He or she must be able to present their original 10th and +2 Mark Statements, UG Degree Certificate, Consolidated Mark Statement, Provisional / Degree Certificate of their PG Degree, Community Certificate, and Income Proof in the Central Govt. format (if applicable).

Along with the aforementioned certificates, individuals who have been chosen for final admission must additionally present their Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate, and Eligibility Certificate from their prior institution or university.

If chosen for the final admission, candidates with educational backgrounds from the State Board of Tamil Nadu should additionally present the Eligibility Certificate. Those found with inappropriate certificate will be disqualified from the admission procedure.

Admission Criteria

The selection committee, which includes the head of the department of clinical psychology, determines provisional admission based on the results of an entrance examination that entails both a written test and an interview.

Selection Method:

After receiving their admission card from NIEPMD(D), candidates who have applied for the M. Phil. Clinical Psychology programme will be allowed to take their entrance exam. The written test will have 100 multiple-choice questions and will last 90 minutes. There won’t be any failing grades.

The interview committee will allow the shortlisted applicants of the written examination to participate in the interview. The organization will apply a weightage of 60% to the candidate’s written exam results and 40% to the results of the personal interview. Based on the combined marks received for the written exam and interview. They will determine the final ranking and merit list

Written test (60%) plus interview (40%) equals a final score of 100%.

Inter-se-merit:

The selection committee will give the candidate who is older in age higher attention if more than one applicant obtains an identical number of points on the final merit list. If there is still a tie, They will give more credit to the candidate with the better overall Master’s degree grade point average

Registration Procedure

A candidate accepted for the M.Phil. Clinical Psychology programme at NIEPMD(D) must register his or her name with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai by submitting the required application form for registration, duly filled out, along with the required fee and a declaration in the required format, to the university’s controller of examinations through NIEPMD(D).

Attendance Required

To take the relevant exam, you must have a minimum attendance rate of 80% throughout the course of the year, taking into account all academic activities. During the two-year course length, a total of thirty days of casual leave. They shall be allowed a maximum of fifteen days per academic year.
