NIMHANS is conducting a walk-in selection for contract positions in “Senior Resident Psychiatry,” “Psychologist/Counselor,” and “Field Officer” for the project “Bengaluru Urban Mental Health Initiative.” This initiative aims to establish a model urban mental health program with HCL funding. Dr. Arvind B A and Dr. Manjunatha N from NIMHANS lead the project.

About the posts:

1) Senior Resident of Psychiatry 

Number of posts:

Essential Qualifications: MBBS & M.D Psychiatry or equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institution. 

Additional desirable Qualifications:  

  1. Qualifications obtained from institutes of reputes
  2. Academic honors such as University Gold Medal, grants, fellowships. 
  3. Additional qualifications and competencies 
  4. Clinical and/or research Experience in community psychiatry
  5.  Experience working with multidisciplinary research teams
  6. Indexed scientific publications 
  7. Clinical proficiency in Kannada language is preferred

Emoluments: Rs 1,10,000 Per month (consolidated) 

Maximum age limit: 35 years 

Maximum Duration of the Post: 6 months (Initial appointment is for 6 months based on Performance, it is likely to extend further)  

 2) Psychologist/Counsellor

 Number of posts : 1 (ONE) 

 Essential Qualifications:

  •  Master’s in Clinical Psychology or Masters in Psychology or Master in Social work with specialization in Medical and psychiatric social work. 
  • Experience in community based mental health training/experience in training lay persons in the community on various mental health aspects. 
  • Proficiency in providing general counselling. 
  • Proficiency in interpersonal skills Fluency in reading and writing in Kannada, Hindi and English is desirable.

 Nature of Work : 

The study is based in Bengaluru City- south zone and involves planning and preparation for mental health training programs, providing counselling service, conducting training to community members in the field, monitoring training programs, data collection, data entry, data analysis, drafting the report and liaising with the community, liaising with government officials. Also, undertake other activities as instructed by the investigators.

Emoluments: Rs. 45,000/- Per month (consolidated)

Maximum age limit: 35 years maximum

Duration of the Post: 6 months (Initial appointment is for 6 months based on Performance, it is likely to extend further

3. Field Officer

Number of posts :  1 (ONE) 

Essential Qualifications 

  1. Qualification in Psychology/social work / sociology or related.
  2.  Experience in community based mental health training/experience in training lay persons in the community on various mental health aspects. 
  3. Proficiency in interpersonal skills Fluency in reading and writing in Kannada, Hindi and English is desirable 

 Nature of Work 

The study is based in Bengaluru City- south zone and involves planning and preparation for mental health training programs, conducting training to community members in the field, assist the project team in training , monitoring training program, data collection, data entry, data analysis, drafting the report and liaising with the community, liaising with government officials and support project admin related works. Also, undertake other activities as instructed by the investigators.

Emoluments: Rs. 30,000/- Per month (consolidated)

Maximum age limit: 35 years maximum 

Duration of the Post: 6 months (Initial appointment is for 6 months based on Performance, it is likely to extend further) 

The desirous candidates who fulfilling the eligibility criteria mentioned above are advised to appear for WALK- IN-SELECTION with their Resume, NOC from the Principal Investigator if working on projects (Extramural/Intramural) in NIMHANS and Testimonials in original, as well as set of photocopies will be reviewed at the time of the interview

Note: The candidates are required to register their names half an hour before the commencement of the written/skill test. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written/skill test.
