Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University, Department of Psychology, has announced a new course, Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC), for which applications are invited from August 22, 2025. It’s a one-year course accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

The university was established in 1992 in Delhi, India. With NAAC A++ accreditation and a 3rd rank in NIRF ranking, the university marks a history of academic excellence. The department of psychology already offers a range of graduate, post-graduate, PhD, and Advanced Diploma in counselling psychology programs. Also, there are facilities of a counselling unit and a psychology lab within the premises, making essential resources present within the campus. JMI remains a prestigious institution of higher education despite controversies and challenges faced over the decades.
ADCGC
Advance Diploma in Child Guidance & Counselling is a one-year program consisting of two semesters, accredited by RCI. It’s a full-time regular course offered under the “self-financed” bracket as per the university notice. The course consists of rigorous training along with hands-on practical experience through workshops, internships, and field training. For a better understanding of children and adolescents’ supervision, the training would be provided by expert faculty.
Eligibility Criteria
The interested candidate should have an M.A. / M.Sc. in psychology/ applied psychology / clinical psychology with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate or equivalent CGPA
- Number of seats: 25 (self-finance)
- Annual fee of the course: Rs. 85,000/- (approximately)
- Course Duration: 1 year (2 semesters)
Application Procedure
The applications are open for the program from 22nd August 2025 to 6th September 2025 in online mode only. The following steps are required for the application process:
- Register as a new candidate from the link provided.
- Select the course/ program for which you want to apply, along with other demographic and academic information.
- Pay the application fee through digital mode only
Admission Process
The entrance exam will be held on 14th September 2025. The candidates who appear for the entrance exams will be selected based on their score in the entrance test conducted by JMI for their applied program. The admission will be strictly merit-based based following JMI policies of admission.
Career Opportunities
After completing the course with university academic expectations, the trainee student would be eligible for an RCI License with a designation of a “Rehabilitation Counsellor”. Furthermore, the individual can apply for work in education institutions, healthcare facilities (clinics and hospitals), government organisations working with children, Non-Government Organisation (NGOs), Child Care Institutes (CCI), adoption centres, etc.
