German minister commits suicide due to coronavirus worries: German officials
Finance minister of Germany's Hesse state, Thomas Schaefer has committed suicide after developing extreme worry about how to manage economical crisis due to coronavirus crisis. Thomas Schaefer was the finance minister of Hesse state of germany.
Thomas Schaefer was a 54-year-old member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union, their body found on railway tracks at Hochheim, near Frankfurt.
State premier, Bouffier said Schaefer was worried about “whether it would be possible to succeed in fulfilling the population’s huge expectations, particularly of financial help.”
"We are in shock, we are in disbelief and above all we are immensely sad," Bouffier said in a recorded statement.
