Adobe takes new step to promote mental health awareness

A new campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues and to promote self-care has been launched by Adobe, a software company well-known for its popular creative programmes. A brief video providing advice and resources for maintaining mental health is part of the campaign. It discusses how mental health is stigmatised in our culture and how people are overcoming that stigma. This is a great step for our community since everyone can join the mental health conversation.

The video focuses on mental health in South Asian communities and how Adobe is raising awareness through its platform. In the video, South Asian creators talk about mental health and the stigma that exists in their societies. People see Showbiz India co-host Ayushi Chhabra interviewing people and obtaining their opinions on the stigma associated with mental illness and despair. The video also emphasises numbers, saying that only 19 per cent of those with mental illnesses received treatment in 2021, a shockingly low figure.

Breaking the Taboo

Because so many people are suffering in silence and it is time for us to come together and end the taboo, the Department of Mental Health approached ShowBiz India to work on interviews, focus groups, and PSAs. People view mental health issues as a sign of weakness or a personal flaw in many South Asian societies. For those who are struggling with mental health concerns, this can lead to guilt and isolation as well as an unwillingness to seek help or be open about their struggles

People spoke about how having a support system and having other people who open up about their struggles can really help them open up too. We know how South Asian communities often place a high value on family and collectivism, which can put pressure on members to live up to expectations and make it difficult to talk openly about personal matters, such as mental health.

Showbiz India says that their chosen way of raising awareness is through content creation, which requires Adobe’s assistance. This highlights how creativity can be a tool for many people to open up and express their thoughts. The video, in its entirety, is strong and inspires viewers to take care of themselves and seek help when necessary while also highlighting Adobe’s commitment to promoting the well-being of others. After all, ideas and conversations will eradicate the stigma around mental health.

Adobe joins hands with ShowBiz India to spread awareness around the topic of mental health and promote self-care. Take a look at how they are doing it!
